Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10.05.2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Dominic Levien (“we”, “us”, “our”, “me”, “my”) — operating the website www.dominiclevien.com — collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you visit the site, sign up for the newsletter, attend a masterclass, or enrol in a course.

This policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law (LOPDGDD).

1. Who we are

For any data-related request — access, correction, deletion, portability, or to lodge a concern — email hello@dominiclevien.com.

2. What data we collect and why

When you visit the site

We automatically collect server logs (IP address, browser type and version, pages viewed, timestamps, referring URL). This is used for security, fraud prevention, and basic site analytics.

When you leave a comment

We collect the data you provide in the comment form (name, email address, optional website), plus your IP address and browser user agent string for spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to check for a profile image (see Automattic’s privacy policy).

When you sign up for the newsletter or any free download

We collect your email address, optional name, and the source of your subscription (which page or form you used). This is stored in our email management system (FluentCRM, hosted on this same site) and our email delivery provider (Brevo).

When you register for the masterclass or enrol in a course

We collect your name, email address, billing address (typically country and postal code for tax compliance), and a password (you create your own when you sign up). Course progress data (lessons you’ve viewed, completed, or marked complete) is stored so the course functions correctly and you don’t lose your place.

When you make a payment

Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles that. We receive transaction confirmation and invoice metadata (amount, date, status, last four digits of card).

When you watch course videos

Videos are hosted by Vimeo. Vimeo may collect viewing data (play/pause, duration watched, device type) according to their own privacy policy.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for newsletter and marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email or contacting us.
  • Performance of a contract — for course delivery, account management, and customer support after you enrol (we need your data to deliver what you purchased).
  • Legitimate interest — for site security, fraud prevention, and basic non-tracking analytics.
  • Legal obligation — for tax records, invoicing, and accounting (Spanish law requires us to keep these).

4. Who we share your data with

We share specific data with the following processors. Each has appropriate data protection commitments in place.

Processor Purpose Location Notes
IONOS Website hosting Germany (EU) Within EEA — no international transfer concern
Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd) Payment processing Ireland (EU); some processing in the US International transfers governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
Brevo Email delivery (transactional and marketing) France (EU) Within EEA
FluentCRM Customer relationship management Self-hosted on dominiclevien.com (IONOS / EU) No third-party transfer
Vimeo Course video hosting and delivery United States International transfer governed by SCCs
Gravatar (Automattic Inc.) Optional profile image lookup based on email hash United States International transfer governed by SCCs
WordPress / Astra theme / Elementor Site framework Self-hosted; some assets may load from third-party CDNs (e.g. Google Fonts) See cookies + embedded content sections

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

5. International data transfers

Some data is transferred outside the EU/EEA — notably to Stripe (US processing), Vimeo (US-based), and Gravatar (US-based). For these transfers we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. You can request more details by emailing hello@dominiclevien.com.

6. How long we keep your data

  • Comments: retained indefinitely (so we can recognize follow-up comments without re-moderating).
  • Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe; we may delete inactive subscribers (no opens, no clicks) after extended periods.
  • Course enrollees: account and course-progress data retained as long as you have access to the course you purchased. After 5 years of inactivity, we may anonymize or delete the account.
  • Payment records: 6 years (required by Spanish tax law).
  • Server logs: typically 30 days, then deleted.

7. Your rights under GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to restriction — request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest or for direct marketing (you can unsubscribe from emails at any time).
  • Right to withdraw consent — for any processing where consent is the legal basis.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — with the Spanish Data Protection Authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos / AEPD).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@dominiclevien.com. We respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies — required for site functionality (login sessions, secure forms, shopping cart state on the LifterLMS Checkout).
  • Performance cookies — set by WP Rocket caching plugin to deliver pages faster.
  • Comment cookies — if you leave a comment and opt-in, your name/email/website may be saved in your browser for convenience (lasts 1 year).
  • Login cookies — set when you log in. Last 2 days (or 2 weeks if you select “Remember Me”). Removed when you log out.
  • Embedded video cookies — Vimeo videos set cookies when you press play. These follow Vimeo’s privacy policy.
  • Stripe cookies — set on the Checkout page for fraud prevention and payment processing.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may break site functionality.

9. Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content from third parties (YouTube videos, Vimeo videos, Instagram posts, Google Maps). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that other site directly. These sites may collect data about you, set cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

10. Children’s privacy

This site and its courses are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 years old. If you believe a child under 16 has submitted personal data to us, contact us at hello@dominiclevien.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Health and safety disclaimer (breathwork content)

Do not begin, alter, or stop any medical treatment based on content from this site. If you have any medical condition (including but not limited to: cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions, epilepsy, pregnancy, severe mental health conditions), consult your medical professional before practicing.

By enrolling in any course, you acknowledge that you participate at your own risk and accept responsibility for your own physical and mental wellbeing.
